Tour of Italy (Giro D’Italia) Cycle Challenge 2017 (100th edition)

In May this year I will be riding the exact route of the 2017 Tour of Italy. The Giro d’italia is 3,400 km long and takes place over 21 days in May and this year’s see the 100th edition of the race. I will be raising money for 4 charities, Bernados, Rainbow Children’s Hospice, Padraic Sweeney Kidney Research and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and will be sponsored by Jewson, Polypipe and McCann. The ride is an extraordinary feat for anyone regardless of age but being 77 this makes it if more mind blowing. What an example it sets to the mature cyclists? It demonstrates that age should not be a barrier and the older generation can still achieve a great level of fitness, and still be competitive in their chosen sport or activities, inspiring! Why this challenge? In 2005, Mick at the age of 65 became the 1st and still only rider to SOLO ride the exact route of the Tour de France in one day less...
