The day started in bright sunshine, we were meeting a contingent from Polypipe (one of the main sponsors) who were going to ride with Mick.
There was an immediate climb up to Aprica (CAT 2), the ascent was rather technical but Mick endeavoured threw, followed by a sweeping descent into some stunning greenery.
Next up was another CAT 2 climb up to Passo del Tonale, the sun was now beating down and Mick’s pace reduced slightly due to the heat, but his confidence was in abundance.
A long drop followed across Val di Sole, Mick’s speed was healthy before hitting Mezzolombardo when he starting climbing again (CAT 3) up to the Giovo summit.
The route then climbed gradually from Camptello di Fassa for the last 5 kilometres on wide and well surfaced roads.
It was a long hard day in the saddle but Mick coped admirably.
